Exports up. On 29 March the Andean community of nations (CAN) trade bloc, which comprises Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, released a report which shows that total exports from CAN members reached US$119.31bn in 2018, up 11.4% on 2017. Of the CAN members, Peru accounted for US$46.8bn of exports followed by Colombia (US$41.8bn), Ecuador (US$21.6bn), and Bolivia (US$9bn). The CAN’s main exports were crude oil (US$21.8bn) and copper minerals (US$13.2bn), while raw gold for non-monetary use totalled US$9.22bn. Meanwhile, exports within the CAN grew 17.6% in 2018, to reach US$8.9bn. Colombia was the greatest contributor to intra-community exports with 35.5%, followed by Ecuador with 27.9%, Peru with 25.4%, and Bolivia with 11.2%.
