Aurelio Hidalgo explained that the Tren Playero will have an investment of US$370.5m during construction and US$156.4m during operation and maintenance. The train is expected to be 400m in length and have the capacity to transport 600tonnes (t) of merchandise, travelling on average between 40km/h and 60km/h. Hidalgo said that the ministry was expecting to receive bids until 16 August, to decide on the bids by 9 October, with the contract to be signed on 9 November.
