In brief: Chile

* Chile’s finance ministry has issued US$1.5bn in bonds to local and international investors. Three types of bonds were offered with maturities in 2023 (US$400m), 2030 (US$600m), and 2050 (US$500m). According to a finance ministry press release, foreign investors accounted for 24% of the total, exceeding the previous record of 21% in 2017. The issuance of bonds is part of a larger treasury bond placement plan for 2019 that has a maximum amount of US$8.7bn.
