PERU | Trade with Apec countries at record high. Trade between Peru and the countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) reached a record high of US$58bn in 2018, according to the head of the foreign trade and tourism ministry, Edgar Vásquez. “Apec is the most important market for Peruvian exports [62% of the total],” Vásquez said. “In 2018, exports to Apec verged on US$30bn, a record amount,” he added. Peru exported minerals (63%), agricultural products (11%), oil and gas (9%), fishing products (8%) and textiles (3%); and for a value of over US$27bn it imported metal-mechanical products (37%), chemical products (17%), and oil (14%), among other things.
