* Peru’s transport & communications ministry (MTC) has announced that through its national telecommunications programme (Pronatel), it has signed contracts with Consortium Bandtel (which includes local companies Consorcio DHMONT, Telkom and Bantel) worth over US$148m. The contracts are to install broadband for
“comprehensive connectivity and social development” of the Huánuco and Pasco regions. The projects which will involve the installation of over 2,257km of fibre optic cable, will benefit over 300,000 people in 612 areas in the two regions as well as 316 health centres and 716 educational institutions, among other things.
