* Mexico has received US$10bn in remittances in the first quarter of 2019 from residents abroad, indicating an increase of 5.67% over the same quarter in 2018, according to the central bank (Banxico). During the first four months of the year, the majority of remittances were received via electronic wire transfers. In April alone, Banxico reported income from remittances of US$2.8bn, which is less than the US$2.9bn from the previous month, but more than the US$2.7bn from April 2018.
