BRAZIL | Government concludes another leniency agreement. On 31 May, Brazil’s comptroller general’s office (CGU) and solicitor general’s office (AGU) announced that the government had reached a leniency agreement with Braskem, a petrochemicals company and subsidiary of the Odebrecht conglomerate which has been investigated as part of the ‘Lava Jato’ corruption probe. Per the terms of the agreement, Braskem will pay the Brazilian state a total settlement of R$2.87bn (US$739m) by January 2025.
