Brazil: Copa America draws attention to football violence

Between 14 June and 7 July, five Brazilian cities are playing host to the Copa America. This will be the first time in 30 years that Brazil has welcomed South America’s oldest international football tournament, although having hosted the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the country should be well-versed in containing football hooliganism during international competitions. Although the security issues go beyond mere thuggery.
