COLOMBIA: Duque affirms commitment to peace

Colombia’s President Iván Duque presented a robust defence of his government’s implementation of the peace accord with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc), and wider public security policy, during the opening phase of a three-nation tour of Europe this week in the UK. Duque, accompanied on his trip by several cabinet ministers, also discussed, among other things, the impact of the Venezuelan migrant crisis. But it is the implementation of the peace accord which is coming under closest scrutiny not least because of the rising number of demobilised Farc guerrillas being killed in Colombia, five in the last week alone.
