* Peru’s ministry of transport & communications (MTC) has highlighted that it is undertaking investment and construction programmes with the aim of improving connectivity across the country, part of efforts to combat inequality. Over PEN336m (US$101.7m) is being invested this year in 172 projects across the region of Huancavelica. Of the total, PEN216.2m is being invested in the construction and maintenance of a total 7,851km of national and regional roads; PEN34.7m in the construction of 18 bridges; and PEN85.8m in the installation of broadband connections. Martín Vizcarra, who was in Huancavelica for the inauguration of a new health centre and the activation of the regional broadband connection, highlighted:
