* Nestlé Central America and the Honduran government have inaugurated the first training centres for coffee growers in the municipality La Libertad, Comayagua department. This is aimed at promoting the inclusion of youths in the workplace through the Central American ‘initiative for youth programme’. This programme, which also has the backing of the US and the United Nations, seeks to train youths in high-quality coffee production and entrepreneurship. It is also hoped that it can become a model for local and regional suppliers and other companies, to help to advance social development in Central American countries, and their integration into the global economy. It is estimated that the programme will benefit more than 12,000 youths across Central America, including over 1,200 in Honduras. Nestlé Honduras manager
Daniel Carón explained that “
in addition to supporting the youth in their effective entrance in the labour market, this is also motivating our suppliers and other companies to play a role in this objective”.
