In brief: Paraguay

* Paraguay’s trade & industry ministry (MIC) has announced that Brazilian government has temporarily suspended the application of a 16% tariff on Paraguayan vehicle part imports for an unspecified time frame. When the Treaty of Asunción was signed in 1991, establishing the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), the automotive sector was not included in the agreement. Paraguay exports around US$300m worth of vehicle parts annually to Brazil.
