* Bolivia’s state-owned oil company (YPFB) has announced that it will partner with Russian fertilizer production company Acron to establish a new company in Brazil called BORUS (Bolivia-Russia) Fertilizer. The company’s first production plant, located in Três Lagoas, a town in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, will focus on producing urea, a compound often used in fertilisers. YPFP has pledged to provide a daily 2.2m cubic metres of Bolivian natural gas, a key component in urea production, for the next 20 years. In an arrangement with Acron, YPFB has agreed to a 49%-51% ownership split of the new company which is predicted to produce 1.2m tonnes of urea a year starting in 2023.
