* The Brazilian economy institute (Ibre) at Brazil’s Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV) has released the latest figures for its monthly foreign trade indicator (Icomex) which show that the value of Brazilian exports fell 10.4% in June this year compared with June 2018. This was driven by a 12.2% fall in the value of exports to the US (mainly due to lower export prices), and a 4.1% fall in the value of exports to China (due primarily to lower export volumes). The value of imports for June fell an annual 9.1%, and Brazil registered a trade surplus of US$4bn in June, and an accumulated US$26bn trade surplus in the first six months of the year.
