In brief: Uruguay’s inflation on the rise

* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPC), which grew 0.76% month-on-month in July. In the last 12 months inflation has reached 7.54%, up from 7.36% in the 12 months to June. This monthly increase has been driven by higher prices in the health sector (up by 1.70%), hotel and restaurant industry (1.17%), and the food and non-alcoholic drinks category (1.63%), after meat prices rose by 1.8%, fruit prices by 0.75% and vegetable prices by 6.1%.
