“dialogue spaces”. This follows the announcement by Peru’s mining & energy minister,
Francisco Ísmodes, that the project’s construction licence has been suspended until officials evaluate its legality and objections from local authorities. The project has been highly contentious amid concerns about the impact of the mine on the Tambo river and there are ongoing public protests against it in Arequipa which have turned violent at times.
