Ernesto Figueredo, has urged authorities in charge of defining the 2020 national expenditure budget for next year to respect the deficit limit of 1.5% of GDP, established in the fiscal responsibility law. Figueredo states the need to
“improve the quality of spending as a matter of urgency”, recognising Paraguay’s
“poorly” managed expenditures, whereby many resources have been allocated to public sector salaries and little investment allocated to infrastructure, education, and health.
