* The Chamber of Commerce in Jerusalem and the Chambers of Agriculture, Commerce and Industry in Guatemala signed an agreement to strengthen trade exchanges. It will help consolidate commercial deals and establish permanent opportunities for cooperation. The key aims are to promote investment and foster the best conditions for import and export opportunities, reflecting the increase in recent years of Guatemalan exports to Israel, which in 2018 amounted to US$13.3m, while imports totalled US$23.2m. This will be particularly beneficial for Guatemala’s agricultural sector as 98% of exports to Israel are agricultural products; the sector remains the principal exporter within the country, representing 40% of total exports. The two countries currently have an agreement in place for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments.
