Large drug seizures trouble Uruguay

Several large cocaine seizures traced back to Uruguay have drawn attention to the drug trafficking flows from the small South American nation, generally considered a comparatively peaceful and crime-free country. As global demand for cocaine has grown, Uruguay has increasingly become a hub for international drug trafficking organisations (DTOs), a reality to which authorities have been slow to adapt.
