In brief: CNH approves new Pemex project

* Mexico’s national hydrocarbons commission (CNH) has approved the mining and exploration of the 'Suuk' oil field, which lies in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, by state-owned oil company Pemex. This marks the 17th Pemex project approved by the CNH out of the 20 it has proposed. Pemex plans to invest US$686.76m in the project by 2048. According to state news agency Notimex, the 17 approved projects are expected to contribute 307,000 barrels of oil a day until 2022, while investment in them totals US$16.87bn.
