* The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a US$59.5m loan for Honduras to be used by the government to combat extreme poverty in the country. As the IDB writes in a press release, although the Honduran economy has recently been one of the most “
dynamic” in all of Latin America and the Caribbean, Honduras is currently facing “
great social challenges”, in particular its high rates of poverty and inequality. The approved loan will help combat these challenges by supporting the “
adoption, design, and implementation” of policies geared towards reducing these rates.
