BRAZIL: Gov’t under pressure over oil spill in Northeast

On 20 October, Admiral Leonardo Puntel, commander of Brazil’s naval operations, declared that the mysterious oil spill that is polluting beaches in the country’s nine northeastern states “is a totally unprecedented accident in Brazil, probably also in the western world”.
