NORTHERN TRIANGLE | Comprehensive development plan. On 21 October, Laura Elena Carillo, managing director of the Mexican Agency for International Development (AMEXCID), and Manuel Otero, CEO of the Interamerican Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to work together to implement the comprehensive development plan (PDI) in the Northern Triangle (El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras). The IICA will provide technical accompaniment to two projects, the ‘Sowing Life’ programme (Sembrando Vida) and the ‘Youth Building the Future’ programme (Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro). Both projects have a budget of US$30m and the goal of benefiting 20,000 individuals in each of the Northern Triangle countries. The programmes will be implemented during the remainder of 2019 in El Salvador and Honduras and at the beginning of 2020 in Guatemala.
