* An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation has arrived in Paraguay to prepare its annual report on the country’s economy as part of an Article IV consultation. In this consultation the IMF will discuss Paraguay’s economic and financial policies with government and central bank (BCP) officials. One topic up for scrutiny will be the request by the Paraguayan government that congress raise the legal limit on the fiscal deficit for 2020 from 1.5% of GDP to allow the government to ramp up spending in support of the domestic economy, which has fallen into recession this year.
