Nearly two weeks on from Alberto Fernández’s victory in the first round of Argentina’s presidential elections and neither voters nor investors are any the wiser about his economic plans ahead of his investiture on 10 December. Fernández has revealed his foreign policy priorities though. His choice of Mexico as his first port of call was telling. But despite portraying his visit to Mexico City this week as a roaring success, Fernández left empty-handed, having failed to enlist President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s support in a grand plan for deepening regional integration.
