Pemex cyberattack raises alarm

An attack carried out by a group of hackers targeting the computer systems of Mexico’s state-owned oil firm, Pemex, has produced significant concern about cyber security in Mexico. The hackers, who have managed to seize control of some of Pemex’s computers, have demanded the payment of a ransom in exchange for their release. The fear is that other Mexican firms could be targeted by such attacks, as these also appear to have weak protections.
