In brief: Ecuador agrees an extra US$498m in IMF credit

* The Ecuadorean government has reached an agreement with a technical team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding the third revision of the economic agreement signed in March 2019. Subject to approval by the IMF Executive Board, due to meet on 19 December, this new agreement will see Ecuador receive a payment of US$498m before the end of the year. The agreement was seemingly finalised by the passage of a tax-reform bill through Ecuador’s national assembly on 9 December, part of the economic reform programme that is a key condition for IMF support.
