* Brazil’s Confederação Nacional das Indústrias (CNI), a private sector lobby, has released its index for industrial business confidence (Icei) for December, which stands at 64.3 (on a scale of 0 to a 100). This represents the fifth consecutive monthly increase in the Icei, and the highest confidence level recorded since June 2010. The CNI notes that this increased confidence is a reflection of both an improved current environment and positive expectations for the next six months.
“The increase in confidence is important in the sense that it stimulates decisions of investment and production, helping the recovery of the country’s economic growth,” the CNI’s report reads.
