In brief: Uruguay inflation closes 2019 above target

* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (IPC) which show that monthly inflation fell by 0.3% in December 2019. Accumulated inflation for the year 2019 totals 8.79%, up from 7.96% annual inflation in 2018. This falls outside of the central bank’s (BCU) target range, which had predicted that inflation would stand between 3%-7%.
