In brief: Petroperú appoint interim president after resignation scandal

* Peru’s state-owned oil company Petroperú has appointed Carlos Barrientos Gonzales, previously the company’s general manager since August 2019, as its new interim president. He replaces Carlos Paredes Lanatta, who resigned on 24 February after an audio recording captured him making insulting comments about Peru’s economy minister, María Antonieta Alva, using sexist language and questioning her authority.
