Under the cosh

The headlines for the Chilean economy are all pretty bad. The country has been suffering violent social protests and unusually high political uncertainty for nigh on six months now. Added to that, Chile has one of the most open economies in the region and will be affected by the coronavirus-linked cooling of global demand for copper, its main export commodity. Despite all this, however, there are still some signs of resilience in the economy.
