The social dimension of the ‘mega-drought’

Chile continues to suffer from its worst drought on record, which has affected the country’s central regions for the past decade. The government led by President Sebastián Piñera has taken some steps towards addressing water scarcity, but many argue that these are insufficient in the face of a new normal which is due as much to anthropogenic activity as to climatic factors, and which carries social consequences.
