In brief: Experts slash Chile’s growth forecast for 2020

* The latest economic expectations survey of local economists, released by Chile’s central bank (BCCh), has forecast that the country’s GDP will contract by 2.2% in 2020. The forecast, which reflects the economic impact of measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), represents a significant decline from the 1.2% growth predicted in the previous month’s survey.
