Last month the international anti-corruption NGO Transparency International (TI) warned about “serious corruption risks in the region’s emergency response” to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, singling out the public procurement system. These concerns would seem to have materialised in Honduras: last week the national anti-corruption council (CNA), a civil-society umbrella group, presented a report which found that medical supplies and equipment had been purchased at inflated prices.
