REGION: Pandemic poses existential threat to indigenous peoples

A 31 March statement from the Coordinadora de las Organizaciones Indígenas de la Cuenca Amazónica (Coica), a transnational umbrella organisation representing indigenous communities from across the Amazon basin, warned that the failure of national governments to protect indigenous peoples from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic would be tantamount to “ethnocide”.
