In brief: Honduras’s economy registers further contraction in May

* Honduras’s central bank (BCH) has released new figures which show that the country’s economy contracted by 21.9% in May 2020 compared with the same month in 2019, as a result of the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. This brings the accumulated economic growth figure for the first five months of 2020 to -9.4% compared with the same period in 2019. The growth figure for April 2020 was -6.3% year-on-year.
