Arturo Herrera has indicated that the country’s economic recovery will take longer than expected. At a virtual meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of G20 countries, Herrera said the rate of Mexico’s economic recovery will depend on the evolution of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and that
“while there is no vaccine or effective treatment” this will take
“a longer time” than originally foreseen by the international community
. “Economic policy, particularly fiscal and financial policy, will have to adjust to the new reality,” he stressed, according to a statement published by the finance ministry.
