HONDURAS: Hernández hails new steps to fight drug trafficking

At the end of May Honduras’s President Juan Orlando Hernández promulgated a new air sovereignty law and inaugurated a combined interagency operations centre (CCOI), both aimed at cracking down on drug trafficking. The move, which won plaudits from the US, comes as Hernández continues to face uncomfortable questions due to drug-related allegations involving his brother Juan Antonio ‘Tony’, convicted in October 2019 by a US jury of drug trafficking charges [SSR-20-05].
