As President Iván Duque installed a new session of congress on 20 July, much was made of the fact that his opening address was delivered virtually, for the first time in history. The move away from in-person legislative sessions has met been met with considerable resistance in Colombia, perhaps reflecting a reluctance on the part of some to accept that politics, like everything else, has been changed irrevocably by the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
