The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic continues to assail Latin American countries. The Southern Cone sub-region concentrates both some of Latin America’s worst-hit countries – Brazil and Chile – and the two that appear to have best handled the public health emergency and accompanying economic crisis – Uruguay and Paraguay. While the sanitary risk of Covid-19 remains real, most countries have begun to return to so-called normality.
