COSTA RICA: Alvarado under pressure as protests grow

On 27 July Asociación Nacional de Empleados Públicos y Privados (ANEP), a leading union in Costa Rica, staged protests in the capital, San José, calling for the government led by President Carlos Alvarado to tax big business (among other demands) to raise funds to address the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
