* Brazil’s economy ministry has released the latest figures from the national employment registry (Caged), which show that 1.2m formal jobs were lost in the country in the first half of 2020. However, the Caged figures show that in June, 10,984 formal jobs were lost - by far the smallest monthly decline since the start of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. This compares with some 350,000 formal jobs lost in May, and some 900,000 lost in April - prompting the government to claim that the labour market is starting to recover.
