In brief: Work begins on new Brazilian port

* Camilo Santana, the governor of Brazil's Ceará state, has announced the start of work in the port of Pecem - Brazil's closest port to Europe - for the construction of a new maritime terminal, which will serve as a second export processing zone (ZPE) in the area. The new facilities will occupy 240 hectares (ha). The Pecem complex is a joint venture between the Pecem government (70%) and Rotterdam port in the Netherlands. The first ZPE, which spans 23ha, will begin operating in February 2021.
