* Brazil’s economy ministry has released the July results for the national employment registry (Novo Caged), according to which there was a positive balance of 131,010 new jobs in the formal sector across the country – the first time since February that there have been more jobs created than jobs lost, as the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic took its toll on the labour market from March onwards. Overall, July saw 1.04m hirings and 912,640 dismissals, bringing the stock of formal jobs to around 37.7m. Economy Minister
