MEXICO: 'Eco-anarchists' graduate from arson to bombs

A string of bombings in Mexico in September has forced the authorities (and security experts) to reassess what had appeared to be a relatively minor threat: 'direct action' campaigns by groups that, in the terms used by one of them, can best be described as 'eco-anarchist'. Over the past three years the nature of these actions has been changing, from daubing graffiti, hurling paint bombs and disabling public telephones to molotov cocktails to major arson   — and now to explosive devices.
