MEXICO-US | La Familia hit on both sides of
the border. On 22-23 October in the US, more than 3,000 agents of the
US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (ICE) plus officers of state and local police forces spread
out across 38 cities in 19 states, in the largest-ever drive against a Mexican
drug cartel north of the border. The operation was conducted under Project
Coronado, a campaign launched just under four years ago. The target: La Familia
Michoacana (LFM), the newest of Mexico's cartels and the leader of a
