El Salvador’s industrial sector warns of job losses

* El Salvador’s industrial association, Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI), has revealed that the sector registered a reduction of 24,116 jobs between January and June as a result of the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. According to the report by ASI, the textiles and clothing sub-sector was the most impacted, with a reduction of 13,425 jobs. According to ASI up to June the industrial sector generated 21% of formal employment and 95.1% of exports in El Salvador.
