Back in discussions with the IMF. A technical mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrived in Buenos Aires on 6 October to analyse the situation on the ground in Argentina and to start a new round of discussions with the government led by President Alberto Fernández over the country’s outstanding debt with the multilateral. The Fernández government wants to renegotiate the US$57bn Stand-by Arrangement (SBA) that the previous government signed with the IMF in 2018. This includes some form of relief over the US$44bn outstanding debt owed to the IMF while maintaining continued financial support.
