* Panama’s 71-member unicameral national legislature has approved the national 2021 budget for US$24.19bn. This is up US$103m on the government’s initial proposal and above the US$23.3bn approved for 2020. According to a press release by the economy & finance ministry (MEF), of the total US$24.19bn, 33% will go on
“physical investments” such as the construction and rehabilitation of schools, strengthening of educational technologies and improvements in health infrastructure. It also contemplates investment for housing projects, maintenance and rehabilitation of roads and the construction of a transmission line.
