The Alianza Federalista (AF) grouping of opposition Mexican governors, which is demanding a review of the way tax revenues are distributed between the federal and state governments, has criticised the level of funding allocated to the state governments in the 2021 draft budget submitted to congress by the administration led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The AF complains that the proposed budget allocation is unfairly small and appears designed to reinforce political centralisation and undermine the autonomy of state governments.
